Frustrated!
How frustrating is it, when you cannot access a site that has been recommended for educational purposes? It makes me feel inadequate when it comes to the task at hand. If I were in a teaching environment, using this technology, I would feel that I had wasted my students time if a site did not work properly. How frustrated would students be, if they spent most of thier lesson trying to access information that was not available? I find that a lot of time spent on-line could be wasted waiting for sites to load. Only to discover this web site has expired or this site is unavailable at this time etc... Don't get me wrong, information communication technology is a wonderful tool. We can certainly keep up with the times using this technology. Students of the 21st century are definitely up to date with this technology and would be the first ones to teach us how to use it. If we are to be honest, we are all learners in life.

Hi Trish,
ReplyDeleteI LOVE YOUR MOVING FISH ON YOUR BLOG. I'm only yelling that cause they are so cool. I'm not yelling at you... Does that take you back to the first couple of tests we had to do? You know 'Netiquette' LOL :)

Trish I could not agree more, I think that most educational settings (and many workplaces for that matter) are over protective with what they allow students to access. I have had some computer issues over the last few weeks and while I was able to access the CQU site from work anything not stored directly on the CQU server was not accessible to me therefore most of the links to articles, you tube clips, mahara etc. were blocked or needed approval before access was granted. I am an adult and quite a patient one at that but I found my self extremely frustrated by this over protective environment. If we want children to become responsible citizens we need to allow them to practice being responsible.
